Lamb-01-135-11

Low winter sun highlights the original main line of the Gulf, Mobile & Ohio Railroad through downtown Meridian, Mississippi, in December 1974. The M&O was a typical victim of the Civil War, being finished to the south bank of the Ohio River just before fighting began. It was never able to recover financially, eventually being bought as a bankrupt property by Southern Railway during the Depression.
