Alco DL-109 eases across 22nd Avenue in downtown Meridian, Mississippi, in December 1954, with Birmingham-bound Queen & Crescent passenger train no. 44, a few hundred feet from the Meridian Union Station. (Note: tall building built by Dryfuss brothers from Germany in the 1930s, known locally as Threefoot Building.)
